We are currently working on the third run of our popular mid-tech model the Wayfarer 247. On the first run we used Elmax blade steel, on the second run we switched to M390 and will continue to use it on this model. In addition to improvements in the way these knives are machined we are also adding a new blade shape! The 247 will soon be available with a Harpoon style blade which we think works perfectly and makes the knife more aggressive. To complement the harpoon itself, these blades also have a slight recurve (sorry to all the sharpeners out there). Another minor update that no one will probably notice is that we changed the lock-bar insert steel to AEB-L which, after some testing, seems to perform very well.
I love the new harpoon blage shape. I’ll be looking out for one once they are available.
Thanks Larry! They are available to order now. Shoot us an email if you’re interested and we can build you one.
Hi, I love my Wayfarer. I like the harpoon blade on this one. Are you thinking of doing a harpoon blade without the recurve?
Hi Stephen, thanks for writing! We’re glad you like your 247! At this moment all harpoons will have a recurve, we just think it works so well with that blade shape.
Hi. I found, too late, the Wayfarer 247 (Harpoon – Satin Blade – Satin Hardware – Blasted Handle) at dlttrading.com, but it was sold out there and everywhere else. Will you be making a 4th run? Thanks.
Hi, at the moment we can make you one with a scalloped handle, everything else as described. For details/etc please shoot an email to eugene@olamiccutlery.com – thank you!
